Accessibility Statement

The standard we build to

This site is built towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA. On every page of the site that means:

• A skip link, so a keyboard or a screen reader reaches the main content without going through the menu first.
• Every link and button reachable by keyboard, with a visible outline showing where you are on the page.
• A page that zooms cleanly in your browser, and strong contrast between the words and the page behind them.
• Headings, landmarks and labels written to be read out by a screen reader, with a picture that is there for decoration hidden from it rather than described.
• A written description on every photograph that carries meaning, and a lighter modern picture format so photographs arrive quickly on a slow connection.
• Less movement when your device or your browser asks for it.

Where this site falls short

One thing here does not meet that standard, and we would rather tell you than let you find it. The film behind the headline on our home page starts on its own, runs in a loop, and has no button to pause or stop it, so we do not meet success criterion 2.2.2, which asks for a way to pause anything that moves for more than five seconds. The film carries no sound and says nothing the page does not also say in words. The film is never loaded on a phone or on a narrow screen, and it is never loaded where your device or your browser asks for reduced motion, and in both cases a still photograph stands in its place.

One thing that is not ours

The map link in our footer opens Google Maps. We do not control how that behaves for you. Our address is written out in full in the footer of every page, so nothing about finding us depends on the map.
